Our inability to grasp planetary scale betrays us. We pacify ourselves with simple stories of cause and effect, hobbling our capacity to truly scrutinize multi-scalar interactions that exist between you and me; ourselves and the planet—what philosopher Timothy Morton calls hyperobjects. What is local about global warming? How global is affordability? Where can we find the city? The Anthropocene forces us to examine these strange properties because we have created these strange objects. To realize broadband change, we must start by acknowledging our broadband realities.
