Emmett Snyder is the Project Manager for the Mass Timber Institute. Emmett holds a bachelors degree in molecular genetics and microbiology and a masters degree in forestry. He has worked previously in administration, research, education, invasive species management, and co-founded a bioenergy startup. He currently sits as a volunteer member of the board of trustees of Forests Without Borders, a charity that works to improve the lives of people by restoring forests.
His current research interests include mass timber manufacturing with small diameter and hardwood fiber, use of customary Indigenous prescribed burning as a forest renewal tool, invasive species management, and strategic forest modeling in flammable boreal landscapes inhabited by woodland caribou.
Emmett is an R.P.F. in training and is working towards becoming a full Registered Professional Forester in Ontario. In his spare time he enjoys spending time outdoors with his dog, woodworking, and adventures in the wilderness.
