Norvin Zhang, PH.D (C)

Norvin Zhang is a PhD student and Research Assistant at MTI, working with Professor Rasoul Yousefpour. His research focuses on forest growth and decision-support modelling, with applications to maple syrup production, forest economics, and sustainable management. He works with process-based and simulation models including 3-PG and SAMARE to study how climate, pests, and management strategies influence forest productivity. A key component of his work is optimizing selection harvesting strategies to balance economic returns and long-term stand resilience. Outside of research, Norvin enjoys distance running and spending time in forests.
