A novel study released highlighting the importance of tree cover and species diversity in Toronto schools

With the support of the Toronto District School Board, Janani Sivarajah, Prof. Sandy Smith, and Prof. Sean Thomas found that increasing tree cover and planting a diverse array of trees are important. They found that the effects of tree cover and species composition on academic performance were most pronounced in schools that showed the highest level of external challenges, suggesting the importance of urban forestry investments in these schools.
