The Canadian Wood Council commissioned the Mass Timber Institute to produce an educational module geared toward educating architecture and engineering students about forestry in Canada. The module (lecture notes, and slides) provides an approachable introduction to aspects of forestry such as sustainable forestry, benefits of building with wood, harvesting regulations and associated laws, old-growth forests, Indigenous involvement in forestry, and carbon capture. The module includes a full slide deck with lecture notes meant to be used by educators to help students make informed decisions about wood in a broader context.
